Original Characters and Actors
All characters are "played" by various actors and actresses I have chosen (and I am open to suggestions). They are their heights, ages (usually), genders, accents, etc. Birthdates are generally the actor's own birthdate. I make an effort to use the actor's own age, or as close as possible. Time, of course, passes, so characters age. There are some disconnects in terms of age, and I do sometimes think of actors and actresses when they were younger than they are now, or even of actors and actresses who are deceased. All actor and actress selections are intended to give the reader a bit of a pictorial framework, nothing more. If you imagine someone else, then have at it!
What about canon consequences? I try to respect canon as much as possible and do not make an effort the "rewrite" what I don't like, even the "These Are the Voyages" conclusion episode. What I would rather do is weave my own stories into the existing framework.
